Meditation is a great way to upgrade our health, balance our our moods, and feel more connected + confident in our lives. However, it can be difficult to figure out how to get started especially if tapes like, “I don’t have time” or “I can never seem to quite + calm my thoughts ” run through your mind.
Have no fear, I’ve gathered my TOP 4 TIPS FOR BEGINNERS to help you start + keep you going!
1-Go into without expectations Meditation is not a quick fix. As with any other form of exercise, meditation takes effort, and it takes time to see + feel the benefits.
2-Choose a time to meditate + stick to it. When you schedule a time of the day to meditate, it is easier to anchor the practice as a habit and you'll be more likely to do it each day. For example, you may want to try pairing meditation with a daily ritual you already have in place, like reading before bed, or drinking your morning tea.
3-Create a designated space. Choosing a room or a space to meditate (the back of the closet totally counts) can help classically condition the body and mind to feel more comfortable, and allow you to more easily transition into relaxation. Bring in items that appeal to all five senses to make it even more if a sanctuary. Ps... phones are ALWAYS on silent mode in that space.
